n8n is an open-source, self-hostable workflow automation tool. It connects Odoo to email, Slack, suppliers, AI models, IoT sensors, and 500+ other apps without writing custom Odoo modules. It is the right choice when the integration logic has more than three steps and needs to be changed often.
What is the difference between n8n and Zapier for Odoo?+
Zapier is faster to start with and best when each automation is a simple two-step trigger and action. n8n wins when you need complex branching logic, AI steps in the middle of the workflow, self-hosting for data privacy, or high execution volumes where Zapier pricing breaks down.
Can n8n write to Odoo, not just read?+
Yes. The Odoo node in n8n supports full create, read, update, and delete on most models. You can create customers, update invoices, post journal entries, and trigger manufacturing orders. We typically gate writes behind a human approval step.
Do we need to host n8n ourselves?+
We recommend self-hosting on your cloud account for data residency and cost control. n8n cloud is fine for getting started, but most clients move to self-hosted within the first six months.
How long does an n8n engagement take?+
